ADO Theater cannot perform in Baku
Baku / 01.07.19 / Turan: On June 23, the first independent Azerbaijani theater ADO held a street show in Tbilisi in front of the Svoboda metro station.
Tbilisi City Hall gave permission for this a few hours after the appeal, instructing the police to provide security.
The theater showed the performance "Crazy Heel", as well as excerpts from other works.
The performances of the ADO Theater are permeated with the spirit of freedom, said its founder and director Elmin Badalov. According to him, people in Azerbaijan have suppressed interest in the theater.
"Thinking about the ways of reviving interest in the theater, we decided to put the performances on the street. However, the Mayor"s Office of Baku and the Ministry of Culture of the country have been forwarding each other our appeals for permission to give street performances for a year. This tradition exists in many countries, but obstacles are created in Azerbaijan," he said.
The amateur theater ADO travels to regions of the country. The theater also participated in international festivals in France, Georgia, Turkey, Romania, Ukraine, Great Britain, and collaborates with artists from other countries. -16D-

Although this topic is relatively less explored in contemporary art, it has never lost its relevance. How should this historical memory be represented? How does it manifest in art?

Each year, on January 13, Lithuania commemorates the Day of Freedom Defenders, honoring the heroes who sacrificed their lives for the country’s independence in 1991. This pivotal moment in Lithuanian history marked the triumph of an unyielding will for freedom over Soviet oppression. Fourteen lives were lost, hundreds were injured, but the desire for liberty remained unshaken. The Day of Freedom Defenders is a solemn occasion for Lithuanians to reflect on their past and the true cost of freedom.
