What steps will the Committee for the protection of the rights of Gubad Ibadoglu take?
Baku/27.07.23/Turan: On July 25, the Committee for the Protection of the Rights of Gubad Ibadoglu, the incarcerated chairman of the Azerbaijani Democracy and Welfare Party (ADWP), was established, embarking on its mission on the same day. The committee, consisting of 21 members, was formed during open discussions held recently.
Jamil Hasanli, the Chairman of the National Council, was elected as the Chairman of the Organizing Committee, as per the committee's decision. The Committee comprises human rights activists, legal experts with vast experience in defending political prisoners, jurists, lawyers, and esteemed representatives of the intelligentsia, all dedicated to providing moral and legal support to Gubad Ibadoglu on a voluntary basis.
Within the Committee, three working groups have been set up, each with a specific focus. The Legal Commission's primary objective is to offer legal assistance, while the Commission for Ensuring International Relations aims to establish and maintain connections with relevant international entities. Additionally, the Commission for Providing Media Support will work towards raising awareness about the situation.
Jamil Hasanli disclosed these developments during an interview on the program "Difficult Question."
Already making strides in fostering international connections, the Commission for Ensuring International Relations held a meeting at the US State Department two days ago. Further actions are in progress, with representatives of the ADWP expected to meet with officials at the British Embassy to exchange perspectives regarding the incident. Efforts have also been made to inform the universities where Gubad Ibadoglu served, including the University of Utah, North Carolina University, Rogers University, New Jersey University, and the London School of Economics and Political Sciences, where he holds a professorship.
A key aspect of the committee's mission is to raise awareness among the public about the seemingly baseless charges against Gubad Ibadoglu. To this end, social media platforms are utilized, and appearances are made on internet TV broadcasts to disseminate information.
Gubad Ibadoglu's case has drawn significant attention, and the Committee for the Protection of his Rights is steadfastly dedicated to upholding his rights and working towards a just resolution.-0--
