Azerbaijan will receive an additional loan of $ 150 million to continue the work to improve the water and sanitation systems in the regions. According to the report of the World Bank (WB), the decision was taken by the Board of Directors.
Credit is allocated through the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD), with the share of the Azerbaijani government - $ 83 million, according to Henry Kerali, WB Director for the South Caucasus, the project primarily aimed at medium-sized cities and the population of suburban villages. The provision of basic public services infrastructure, such as reliable supply of water and sanitation, will have a significant impact on the livelihoods of the rural population, as well as help reduce poverty.
The expense of the plan to improve water supply in Siyazan, Shabran, Agsu Ismailly, Lerik, Yardimli, Masalli and Jalilabad regions. The project is for three years; its implementation will improve the lives of 300 thousand people.
Earlier it was reported that in 2008 the World Bank decided to allocate Azerbaijan second loan of $ 260 million to improve water and sanitation systems in the regions. Azerbaijani government for this purpose is providing $ 150 million.
Azerbaijan is a member of the World Bank since 1992. International donors for the period of cooperation for the implementation of 54 projects in Azerbaijan have allocated loans totaling $ 3.3 billion. Seventeen projects are still implemented. - 17D-

Azerbaijani internet service providers Aztelekom and Baktelekom will introduce substantial changes to their pricing structure starting August 15, the companies announced today. Under the new tariffs, the minimum internet speed will rise to 100 Mbit/s, with the cost per Mbit/s decreasing from 0.45 AZN to 0.25 AZN.
