Area under winter crops increased 6.8%
As of December 1, the area under winter cereals and fodder crops was over 900 thousand hectares, which is 57.6 thousand, or 6.8% more than in the same period of 2012.
According to the State Statistics Committee, the share of wheat was 619.3 hectares of farmland. This is 3.4% more than in the comparable period of 2011. To meet the growing demand for livestock this year farmers have increased crop for barley by 16.5%. By the beginning of December barley was sown on 270 thousand hectares of land.
According to the Ministry of Agriculture, for 2012, 466,000 hectares were sown with winter and spring crops. Altogether, they picked 1,844,000 tons of wheat, 12.5% ??more than in 2011. Yields averaged 26.9 quintals per 1 ha, which is 1.8 units more than last year.
Note that farmers that have sown crops receive subsidies from the state at the rate of 80 manats per 1 hectare.

Azerbaijani internet service providers Aztelekom and Baktelekom will introduce substantial changes to their pricing structure starting August 15, the companies announced today. Under the new tariffs, the minimum internet speed will rise to 100 Mbit/s, with the cost per Mbit/s decreasing from 0.45 AZN to 0.25 AZN. As a result, monthly charges will be set at 25 AZN for 100 Mbit/s, 30 AZN for 150 Mbit/s, and 36 AZN for 250 Mbit/s.
