Areas of Economy in Which Azerbaijan, Israel Will Expand Cooperation Named
Baku/18.03.21/Turan: The annual meeting of the Israel-Azerbaijan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (IACCI) was held in the format of a videoconference on March 17, which outlined plans for further deepening bilateral economic cooperation, the Ministry of Economy of Azerbaijan reports.
Speaking at the event, which was also attended by business representatives of the two countries, IACCI President Alex Kaplun spoke about the Chamber's activities last year and plans to develop trade, humanitarian and other relations between Israel and Azerbaijan this year.
Co-chairman of the Joint Commission between the Governments of Azerbaijan and Israel, Minister of Economy Mikail Jabbarov highly appreciated the activities of the Chamber. The Minister shared his vision of cooperation in the process of restoring the territories of Azerbaijan liberated from the occupation, and touched upon the directions of economic reforms that need to be carried out in the post-pandemic period in Azerbaijan, the Ministry of Economy said.
From the Israeli side it was noted that the companies of this country are interested in the issue of cooperation in the field of information technology, agriculture, health care and water resources management. “There is great potential for cooperation in these areas and an active dialogue is being conducted at the level of government-business in both countries. Speaking at the event, Israeli Ambassador to Azerbaijan George Dick emphasized the contribution of the IACCI to deepening bilateral cooperation.
Mikhail Lotem, Director of the Department for Economic Cooperation with Asia and the CIS of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Israel, made a presentation on "Israeli-Azerbaijani economic relations and new opportunities in the post-pandemic period."
According to the State Customs Committee of Azerbaijan, in 2020, Azerbaijan purchased goods from Israel for 28.2 million US dollars, which is 35.4% less than in the previous year. Azerbaijan's export to Israel is estimated at $ 437.5 million (-67.1%). --------08D
