Azerbaijan decided to build more powerful electric stations to develop alternative energy
Till now Azerbaijan built power stations with the capacity between 1 and 10 MWt, but it is going to start building more powerful stations as a part of the program of development of alternative and renewable power.
According to the State Agency of Alternative and Renewable Sources of Power, in 2015 Azerbaijan will completed construction of three wind power stations with the total capacity of 135.3 MWT.
Construction of a big wind power station with 80 MWT capacity in Pirikeshkul district, Absheron region, is in progress. Two stations with 50 Mwt and 5.3 Mwt power, respectively, will be built in Yeni Yashma and Shurabad districts, Khyzy region.
Right now the State Agency as one hybrid power station (wind and solar power) in Maraza. The first 1 million Kwh of generated power was transferred to Azerenerji’s network in October 2013.
The State Agency for Alternative and Renewable Sources of Power was established in August 2009. According to the Agency, since that time 380 million AZN (about $500 million) has been invested into development of alternative power.—0—
