Azerbaijan Ready to Become Virtual Bridge between East and West
Azerbaijan attaches great importance to international cooperation in the field of communication and information technologies in addressing the digital divide between the West and the East.
As the site http://www.mincom.gov.az says, the Minister of Communications and Information Technologies Ali Abbasov addressed the Asian regional summit of the World Economic Forum in Tianjin (China). The event discussed the new technologies, the application of science and technology in the economy, innovative entrepreneurship, expanding ICT issues of global security, the impact of innovative technology on economic development and the role of government in these areas.
Ali Abbasov spoke at the sessions and plenary sessions of the summit. Thus, at the session on "hyper connected world", the Minister highlighted the achievements of Azerbaijan in the field of information and communication technologies, the union of the region with the help of virtual instruments. It was also reported on the activities carried out under the direction of the President, for the implementation of international projects - TASIM (TASIM), coordinated by the Azerbaijan and EPEG, about the benefits of these projects for the world economy.
In addition to the work being done in the field of ICT, and significant regional projects, the minister informed the participants of the summit of the VII Forum on Internet Governance, exhibition and conference Bakutel, which will be held in November this year in Baku.
On the next day of the summit, the minister, speaking at a panel session on "The State of ICT", told the participants about the role of the "electronic government" in the relationship between government, business and citizens, steps taken and the experience of Azerbaijan in this direction, and answered questions from the audience.
Carried out on the initiative of Azerbaijan and international projects TASIM EPEG attracted the attention of the summit, which expressed confidence that the ongoing projects of the country and the stakeholders in the future will make more efforts to implement them.
The summit welcomed the Government's development of non-oil sector of the country, which is an oil country.
During the trip Abbasov also held bilateral meetings with the Minister of Economic Affairs and Communications of Estonia, Johan Parts, deputy head of the Department of Homeland Security Otull Tara, the Minister of Communications of Nigeria Omoboloy Johnson, vice president of Microsoft Steven Crone.
