Chairman of Board of JSC AzerGold Appointed
The Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev appointed Zakir Zaur Oglu Ibrahimov Chairman of the Board of JSC AzerGold on May 26.
Zakir Ibrahimov previously held the same position in another state joint-stock company, Temiz Shahar (Clean City), which manages household wastes in Baku and works unprofitably.
CJSC AzerGold was established on 11 February 2015. The charter and structure of the joint-stock company was approved on May 11 of this year.
According to the charter, the JSC Board has 5 members, who are also appointed to the post by the head of state. The appointment of other members of the Board is not reported.
CJSC AzerGold carries out studies, research, exploration, development of deposits of non-ferrous metal ores and management, application of new technologies in the industry, modernization of logistics and its sustainable use, as well as performs other activities related to the development of this industry.
It should be noted that on May 25 the President also signed a decree on the transfer of management of gold deposits located in the Dashkesan region. Previously, these deposits were in the use of foreign companies. ------08D

Azerbaijan's financial standing continues to strengthen as the country's foreign currency reserves have surged to $71 billion as of January 1, 2025, according to the Ministry of Finance. This figure, which includes reserves held by the State Oil Fund of Azerbaijan (SOFAZ) and the Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA), far exceeds the nation's external debt, which stands at a fraction of its reserves, specifically nearly 14 times less.
