Det.Al Holding Offers Cheap Azerbaijan Aluminum
In the first half of this year the Ganja aluminum plant of Det.Al Holding Company exported 30,170 tons of unalloyed aluminum, including raw aluminum and finished aluminum products (plates and sheets). This is 8.5% more than in the comparable period of 2014, the State Customs Committee told Turan.
This year, one ton of aluminum produced in Azerbaijan has been exported at an average price of $ 1,443.5. In January-June, the world prices for aluminum varied between $ 1,744 and $ 1,683 per ton (http://goo.gl/i89Al5). During the first half of last year Azerbaijan exported aluminum for a lower price - $ 1,360 / t.
Thus, Det.Al Holding sells goods abroad at a price about 15% lower than the world price. The Baku office of the company did not comment on this fact.
The company did not respond to the question of the origin of the raw materials (alumina) for the production of primary aluminum. Last year, the alumina was supplied from the United States, Brazil, Venezuela and Jamaica. This year, the raw material has not been imported.
According to the SCC, the raw aluminum is exported to Turkey. The finished aluminum products are also exported mainly to Russia.
At present, the stock exchanges make transactions on the purchase and sale of aluminum at the price of $ 1,611 / t.
In 2011 in Ganja a primary aluminum plant was commissioned with a capacity of 50 thousand tons. From May 2013 factories producing semi-finished aluminum began to operate (a plant for continuous casting and rolling metal and a plant processing metal under pressure and color) of the same capacity. Last year Det.Al planned to put into operation the second phase of the smelter and bring the capacity of the plant up to 100 thousand tons. ----08B
