Executive power of Baku irresponsible for the environment, according to environmentalist
June 5 is World Environment Day. In this regard, the head of the public association of the National Center for Ecological Forecasting Telman Zeynalov held in Baku a press conference, during which severely criticized the activities of the executive power of Baku for the irresponsible attitude towards the environment.
According to the ecologist, in landscaping in Baku such types of trees are used that are not typical for his climate and soil, and therefore dry. For example, a few years ago in Baku were planted eucalyptus trees. These trees have died, and those responsible for planting of the trees just drained public funds and went unpunished. In addition, imported trees often bring with them infectious diseases that are dangerous for human health.
Zeynalov said that the Executive Power of Baku demonstrates neglect of waste management. "The streets and sidewalks installed trash cans. Citizens throw garbage into the appropriate bins. However, municipal service of the EP every morning gathers this debris in one pile and sends to the Balakhani landfill. In that case, why sort waste, if there is no separate delivery," he asks.
Plastic bottles from soft drinks are scattered everywhere. The environmentalist believes that the producers of soft drinks such as Coca Cola, Pepsi and others should show awareness of environmental protection, create reception centers of the former use of container and start the recovery and recycling.
Zeynalov also noted that the urban drainage and sewerage infrastructure is not ready to drain rain that turns into a disaster for the city economy after almost every rain storm. - 08s-
