Food production has grown

In 2012 the production of basic food products increased in Azerbaijan. Thus there is unaccounted food production.

Amid growing local production, food imports declined 1.6%.

According to the State Statistics Committee, in the past year, the production of meat (including broiler production) amounted to 264,000 tons. This is 2.6% more than in 2011. The goal for meat imports decreased 30% and amounted in value terms to $ 15.7 million.

Significant growth was in the production of vegetable oils (64.5%) and margarine (15.2%), which is based on imported raw materials. There were produced respectively 63 100 and 23 000 tonnes. Part of the oil production was exported ($ 221.7 million, 27.6%).

Sugar production is also based on imported raw materials. In 2012 the companies produced 355,100 tonnes of sugar and sugar (6.3%). Exports of these products totaled $ 176.5 million (5.2%).

The distribution network received and households used 820,000 tons of fresh milk. This is 0.1% less than in 2011. This will increase the production of cheese and curd (0.7), cream (2.3%) and butter (1.5%). The volume of production of these goods amounted to 46 500, 4 400 and 21 800 tonnes. According to the State Customs Committee, the import of dairy products in 2012 amounted in value terms to $ 7 million (25%).

According to SSC, sausage production totaled 1 989.9 tonnes. According to experts, the production of sausages is now on the rise and these amounts do not reflect the real picture of the industry. The volume of production of these items is hidden from taxation. - 08B-
