In the first six months banks opened six new branches
The number of licensed bank branches in the Absheron economic region in the first half of this year increased by 2 units to 379. At the same time, this region retained the status of the region most dosed with banking offices in the country. It accounts for 56.4% of the total number of branches.
According to the Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA) during the reported period only three new branches appeared in the 10 economic regions of the country, while in seven areas this figure did not change.
In order of decreasing density of bank branches the Absheron economic region is followed by Aran - 91 (no change to the beginning of the year), Ganja-Gazakh - 69 (3), Lankaran - 38 (0), Guba-Khachmaz - 36 (0), Sheki-Zagatala - 30 (1), Mountain-Shirvan - 14 (0), Nakhchivan - 11 (0), Upper-Karabakh - 4 (0). There are no bank branches in the Kalbadzhar-Lachin economic region.
As of July 1, 2012 the total number of bank branches amounted to 672 units (+6 in H1). - 15V -
