Legislation to Be Amended to Apply Tax Free System at All Border Checkpoints of Azerbaijan
Application of the Tax Free system at all the border checkpoints of Azerbaijan requires appropriate amendments to the legislation.
As reported by Turan, this was stated in an interview with the head of the tax policy department of the Chief Directorate for Tax Policy and Strategic Research of the Ministry of Taxes Nijat Imanov circulated by the Ministry’s press service.
"In addition to the airports, the Tax Free system will be applied at all the border crossings of the country. In this regard, a draft on amendments to the law has been prepared," Imanov said.
According to him, after the creation of the software and a unified electronic information base, and then integrating it into electronic information systems of tax and other relevant government agencies, as well as the authorized bank, the Tax Free system will eventually be applied to all border checkpoints.
The Tax Free system (the VAT refund system on the purchases made by foreign nationals when leaving the country in which the goods were acquired) has been applied in Azerbaijan since June 2016.
Tax Free in Azerbaijan is applied in the case of the purchase of goods in the amount of at least AZN 300, including VAT.
According to the Ministry of Taxes, since the application of the Tax Free system the citizens of 45 countries have received a total amount of 104,000 AZN. ------71D
