Ministry of Agriculture Gives Silkworm Seeds to Farmers
The sericulture breeding station located in the village Anbarkend of the Gakh region distributed silkworm seeds that have passed the incubation period to farmers from nine regions.
As Turan was told in the Ministry of Agriculture, high-quality seeds of cocoon were purchased in Iran and China.
The farmers were also provided information materials (brochures, memos and DVDs of silkworm diet).
Fresh cocoons will be procured by the JSC Sheki Silk Factory. To this end a preliminary agreement has been signed.
At the meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers dedicated to the results of the first quarter of 2016, President Ilham Aliyev instructed the government to engage in the provision of support to farmers in order to achieve the development of certain areas of agricultural production, including tobacco, cotton and silk growing. One of the purposes of these tasks is to provide employment in rural areas. ---08D

Azerbaijan's financial standing continues to strengthen as the country's foreign currency reserves have surged to $71 billion as of January 1, 2025, according to the Ministry of Finance. This figure, which includes reserves held by the State Oil Fund of Azerbaijan (SOFAZ) and the Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA), far exceeds the nation's external debt, which stands at a fraction of its reserves, specifically nearly 14 times less.
