New Resettlement of Soviet Street Residents
The Cabinet ordered the demolition of another 1,093 residential and non-residential facilities located in the old quarters of Baku, known popularly as Soviet Street.
Execution of the government’s decision of 11 November, No 358, is entrusted to the Executive Power of Yasamal district of the capital. The decision is justified with the construction of roads of national importance and so on communications according to the General Plan of Baku.
Demolition of the buildings and relocation of the residents began in 2014. This was preceded by the order of the Head of the executive Power of Baku Hajibala Abutalibov dated 12 December 2012. Total according to this decision, it is planned to demolish about 10.5 thousand sites of residential and non-residential purposes. The last report on the resettlement of owners was presented by the Yasamal District EP in January this year. By the time, 2,300 families were relocated. Compensation is granted to the owners at the rate of 1,500 manats for each square meter.
Recently, the European Court of Human Rights ruled on the complaint of one of the residents of the area. The Court concluded that the compensation was inadequate. According to the decision of the European Court, the plaintiff will obtain compensation for material and moral losses. - 08D-

Azerbaijani internet service providers Aztelekom and Baktelekom will introduce substantial changes to their pricing structure starting August 15, the companies announced today. Under the new tariffs, the minimum internet speed will rise to 100 Mbit/s, with the cost per Mbit/s decreasing from 0.45 AZN to 0.25 AZN. As a result, monthly charges will be set at 25 AZN for 100 Mbit/s, 30 AZN for 150 Mbit/s, and 36 AZN for 250 Mbit/s.
