Number of Construction Workers Declined by 13.6%
The number of construction sector workers in Azerbaijan has decreased by 13.6% compared to the same period in 2015, the State Statistics Committee told Turan.
The average number of employees of the sector for two months from the beginning of the year amounted to 88.1 thousand people, of which 22.6 thousand belong to the public sector. At the state-owned enterprises 15.6% of the builders lost their jobs. In the public sector builders received an average salary of 515 manat per month (+ 10.1%).
In companies with foreign capital in January-February, there was an average of about 24 thousand employees, the nominal wage of which was 1,688 manat per month. The salary due to the devaluation of the national currency in February 2015 was indexed by one-third.
Private local companies cut their employees’ wages by an average of 10.9%. They paid their employees 383 manat a month in January and February.
