Rashid Javanshir Appointed BP Senior Vice President in London
BP announced today the appointment of Rashid Javanshir as Senior Vice-President, Strategy and Integration, based in London. Rashid has led BP's regional business in Azerbaijan, Georgia and Turkey since September 2009.
Gordon Birrell will succeed Rashid Javanshir as BP's Regional President for Azerbaijan, Georgia and Turkey (AGT), with effect from November 15, 2012. Gordon is currently Head of Safety and Operational Risk for BP's Production Division, responsible for driving improvements in BP's operating quality across the company's global Production Division. He is an experienced leader that was previously involved in the company's exploration projects in Azerbaijan (he was Vice-President of BP-Azerbaijan).
* Recall that a series of personnel changes in the BP-Azerbaijan started after the October 11 meeting of the government, where Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev criticized the company for a sharp drop in oil production in the fields of contract.
* A citizen of Azerbaijan Rashid Javanshir for 17 years has held various senior positions at BP. Last year, the President of Azerbaijan awarded him the Order of Glory. - 12D -
