The State Statistics Committee of Azerbaijan announced a series of amendments aimed at enhancing road traffic data collection and streamlining administrative reporting. The revisions were made in response to President Ilham Aliyev’s decree issued on August 15, 2024, targeting improvements in transport management and data accuracy across the capital and regional jurisdictions.

The revisions primarily focus on providing more detailed data on employment quotas and targeted employment programs, particularly for socially vulnerable groups. New sections have been added to capture data on individuals hired under employment quotas, additional hires beyond the quotas, and participants in state-funded targeted employment programs.

The Southern Gas Corridor (SGC) will expand by at least 1.2 billion cubic meters per year starting from January 2026, thanks to the capacity increase of its European segment, the Trans Adriatic Pipeline (TAP). By this time, the potential for transporting a blend of hydrogen with other low-carbon gases through TAP is expected to become clearer.
