Tax Officers Undertake Small Entrepreneurs
For the avoidance of taxes to the state budget the Binagadi district court administratively arrested two businessmen - Habil Aghayev for a period of 5 days and Rovshan Askerov - for a period of 3 days.
The Tax Ministry explains the preventive measure with violation by these businessmen of Article 313.1 of the Code of Administrative Offences "evasion (individuals) from the execution of decisions of courts and other bodies," sanctions on which include a decision on administrative arrest for up to 1 month.
This year, such a practice in respect of small businesses has been applied for the first time (earlier on charges of failing to pay large tax arrears there were arrested prominent businessmen - debtors on loans to the International Bank of Azerbaijan, as well as human rights defenders Intigam Aliyev, the couple Leyla and Arif Yunus, the journalist Khadija Ismayilova and others).
The ministry said that "the adoption of strict measures will enhance the sense of responsibility of taxpayers. Once again we urge taxpayers to fulfill their tax obligations on time and in full, avoiding the creation of tax debts." --17D-
