The French began to disposal of waste in Azerbaijan
The project Clean City in the suburbs of Baku - Balakhani commissioned a plant for solid waste management with a capacity of 500,000 tons per year.
The plant - the largest of its kind in Eastern Europe was built by the French company Constructions Industrielles de la Mediterranee SA (CNIM SA), which will manage the project for 20 years.
The contract, worth 346 million euros, was signed with the Azerbaijani Government on 5 December 2008. It includes design, construction, operation and maintenance "of the plant for municipal solid waste incinerators in the city of Baku."
The plant is located on an area of ??20 hectares and consists of two lines with a capacity of 250 tons each, and the turbine, which through the burning of solid waste can produce 231.5 million kilowatt-hours of electricity per year, equivalent to the consumption of 60 million cubic meters of gas.
This includes the use of modern technologies that meet operational and environmental requirements of the European Union. In addition, the sludge produced from the burning of waste, will be used in road construction.
The opening ceremony was attended by President Ilham Aliyev and the government.
OJSC Clean City was established under the presidential decree of August 6, 2008 "On improving the governance of waste disposal in the city of Baku". It carries out works on the establishment of placement and removal occurring on the territory of Baku solid waste.
OJSC Clean City with an authorized capital of 500 thousand manat was registered on March 12, 2009. The founder is the State Committee for State Property Management. - 0 -
