Transit freight transportation on the Silk Road fell by 9.4%
Baku/20.09.13/Turan : For seven months of 2013 transit cargo transportation in Azerbaijan section of Corridor Trans-Europe - Caucasus - Asia (TRACECA) was 8 635.6 thousand tons. This is 9.4 % less than in the corresponding period of 2012. The trend dates back to last year, when the freight along the corridor fell by 3.2%.
In the State Statistics Committee told Turan that the share of rail is 3 824.9 thousand tons (down 16.2 %), maritime transport - 4 810.7 thousand tons (-3.3 %) transit.
From transit there was earned 83.9 million manat. This is 10.3 % less than in the comparable period last year.
The program of inter-regional technical assistance program TRACECA initiated in May 1993 to develop a transport corridor from Europe through the Black Sea, the Caucasus, and the Caspian Sea with access to the Central Asian countries.
