Turkey demands immediate closure of Mezamor atomic power station
Turkey demands immediate closure of Mezamor atomic power station, which endangers all countries of the regions, TRT Haber TV channel cited Turkish Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Taner Yildiz as saying.
Minister said the Mezamor atomic power station has been operating over 40 years and old atomic power stations endanger the environment.
Earlier Turkish media reported that the Armenian government decided to prolong work of Mezamor power station till 2023.
The Mezamor power station was built in 190. After the destructive earthquake in 1988 in the Armenian city of Spitak it was closed, but in 1995, despite international protests, operation of the station was resumed and the second reactor was launched.
Considering a great number of insignificant earthquakes in this area during the past ten years as well as intensification of seismic processes proved by the seismologists' studies, not only Armenia, but all countries of the South Caucasus, Near and Middle East will suffer from the big accident on the Mezamor atomic power station.-0-

Azerbaijani internet service providers Aztelekom and Baktelekom will introduce substantial changes to their pricing structure starting August 15, the companies announced today. Under the new tariffs, the minimum internet speed will rise to 100 Mbit/s, with the cost per Mbit/s decreasing from 0.45 AZN to 0.25 AZN.
