On Wednesday, February 5 Turan published a review of "Food prices in January rose unreasonably." It noted that the increase in food inflation is a consequence of rising prices for domestic goods and monopolization of imports. As an example, products from the company Azersun representing up to 40 % of the assortment of many grocery stores were shown. The reason for this is that the holding has its resource base and infrastructure, both in the regions of Azerbaijan and in the Krasnodar region of Russia and its leadership promised to reduce wholesale prices by boosting production. However, prices rose for some reason.
After the publication the company's representatives issued a statement that the prices were raised not only by them, but by all the local manufacturers and distributors. Turan correspondent visited several stores and wholesale markets, where he was informed that the groups of companies Veyseloglu, LLC Procter & Gamble Azerbaijan Services, Gilan Holding and other major players in the market have also raised prices due to higher fuel prices and the avalanche effect of the general rise in price. As for the traditionally cheap Belarusian goods, retailers have to reckon with unprecedented inflation in recent years in this country.
However sellers noted that other companies have raised prices not so noticeably, as Azersun, especially with the rich assortment of food and other consumer goods offered by this company.
According to economic experts, the ever-increasing prices of some food products are primarily related to the absence of state regulation mechanism. Managed by the same oligarchs, the speculative market uses any excuse to raise the prices of goods and services, such as higher fuel prices, the indexation of pensions and salaries. As a result, such actions by oligarchs eat the annual allowance more than at 7-10%. - 17D -
