The lawyer doubts the adequacy of Ministry of National Security (MNS)
The testimony of the prosecution witness, an employee of the MNS, Gasim Tagiyev, at the trial in the case of seven activists of the NIDA Movement and the member of the organization "Free Youth," Ilkin Rustamzade, continued in the Baku Serious Crimes Court.
According to the lawyer, Nemat Kerimli, Tagiyev did not answer most of the questions of the trial participants, claiming he does not remember.
As a result, the lawyer Kerimli requested an outpatient psychiatric examination of the witness to establish his ability to adequately evaluate the event. The lawyer explained that the witness may have some mental disabilities, or he gives false testimony. After the meeting, the court dismissed the petition.
Further, another witness and employee of the MNS, Azer Mejidov, who conducted a search in the rented apartment of the accused Mamed Azizov, gave testimony.
Lawyers petitioned to publish the testimony of this witness at the preliminary investigation. It will be discussed at tomorrow's trial, as well as the decision on the inspection of Azizov’s apartment, and the report on the results of inspection will be published. -16B-

The closure of Azerbaijan's land borders was discussed during the parliamentary session on November 25. While the government’s decision cites the coronavirus pandemic as the main reason—despite the World Health Organization declaring its end last year—Zahid Oruj, Chair of the Human Rights Committee in the Milli Majlis, pointed to other factors. He stated, "Opening the borders could result in an influx of hundreds of thousands of non-Azerbaijani refugees due to the Russia-Ukraine war. Additionally, in Iran, many are prepared to cross into Azerbaijan to safeguard their lives and assets amid military strikes. Such waves of refugees could lead to humanitarian, social, and cultural clashes that may threaten political stability."
