Negotiations with the mentioned companies have started already, and "many of them reacted positively to this step of the regulatory body," journalist were told by Ali Abbasov, the Minister of Communications and High Technologies.
According to him, today, across the country more than one million active users of social networks and instant messengers, the owners of which provide services not only within the Web. "We as a regulating organ, believe that companies involved in a massive collection of information in Azerbaijan should carry out their activities in accordance with the law of the country on the content of personal data to obtain the certificate," said the minister, adding that this practice is widespread in several European countries.
"These companies have a fairly extensive database of citizens' personal data, and we as a regulator have to protect the rights of our citizens in a virtual environment," he said. --17D-
