The State Concern Turkmengaz has announced prequalification for participation in an international tender for the construction of an underground gas storage facility (UGS). In January 2023, the plans of the fuel and energy Complex of Turkmenistan were announced to begin the creation of underground gas storage facilities. It is planned to involve international consulting companies and world best practices in the implementation of the project, preparation of its feasibility study, construction and equipping of UGS.

On Tuesday, the EU Council adopted a resolution and directive establishing common internal market rules for natural gases, LNG and hydrogen, as well as reforming the existing EU gas legislation. The new legislation "gives member states a legal tool to limit capacity reservations for Russian and Belarusian gas where it affects their most important security interests," the EU Council said.
