A large Russian grouping surrounded in the city of Liman
Baku/01.10.22/Turan: Russian troops in Ukraine face the biggest defeat in the current war. From 2 to 5 thousand soldiers were surrounded in the city of Liman, in eastern Ukraine on the border with the Luhansk region.
The Armed Forces of Ukraine confirmed today the completion of the encirclement of the Russian group in the Liman area, announced the speaker of the eastern group of troops Sergei Cherevaty.
"The Russian grouping in the Liman area is surrounded. The settlements of Yampol, Novoselovka, Shandrigolovo, Drobyshevo, Stavki have been liberated, stabilization measures are continuing there," Cherevaty said.
According to the head of the Lugansk OVA, Sergei Gaidai, the Russian military based in Liman asked their leadership to leave, but were refused. More than 5 thousand military of the Russian Federation have been surrounded.
A few days ago, Western analysts said that the Armed Forces of Ukraine seem to be intent on encircling Russian forces in Liman, Donetsk region. This will allow the defenders to threaten the positions of the Russian Federation along the western border of the Lugansk region and in the area of Severodonetsk-Lysichansk. The Russians have little chance of repeating the mass withdrawal from their positions, as was the case in the Kharkiv region.
Russian sources acknowledged that their grouping is "in an operational encirclement" and they are conducting "all-round defense." --0--
