Alliance "No Political Prisoners in Azerbaijan" Called PACE to Support Reports by Ch. Strasser
The newly created Public Alliance "No political prisoners in Azerbaijan" adopted an appeal to PACE, in which it called for support of the reports by the PACE Rapporteur Christopher Strasser on the definition of a political prisoner and about the situation of political prisoners in Azerbaijan during the discussions in the PACE fall session in Strasbourg on October 3.
As the co-founder of the alliance Oktay Gulalyev told Turan, the appeal, along with statements of support, also called on the European MPs to increase their efforts to free the wrongfully convicted prisoners in Azerbaijan.
According to Gulalyev, adoption of the Strasser reports is important to address the issue of political prisoners.
The public alliance "No political prisoners in Azerbaijan" was established by a group of former "prisoners of conscience." -06D-
