Amnesty International condemns arrest of youth activists
The international human rights organization Amnesty International has condemned the arrest in Azerbaijan a 22-year-old Ibragimov Giyasov and 21-year-old Bayram Mammadov. Young people have been charged with drug trafficking after they made the graffiti on the monument to Heydar Aliyev. The statement of the organization noted that the charges against young people are far-fetched and politically motivated. Amnesty International calls for an independent medical examination of injuries caused by young people in the police and documenting signs of violence. AI also calls on the authorities to conduct an impartial investigation into the allegations and maltreatment. Mammadov and Ibragimov were detained on 11 May. The next day, the court arrested them for 4 months. They told the lawyer that they were subjected to inhuman treatment by the police. They can be imprioned for 12 years.-16D-
