Ankara Accused Moscow of Killing 33 Turkish Military
Baku / 28.02.20 / Turan: As a result of the bombing and shelling of the Turkish military in the Syrian province of Idlib on February 27, 33 soldiers were killed and 36 more wounded. Erdogan held an emergency meeting with the military.
Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu appealed to NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg to support Turkey, Anadolu agency reported.
The Turkish side believes that the bombing was carried out by Russian aircraft, supporting the Syrian government troops.
According to Reuters, citing two representatives of the Turkish security forces, the Turkish armed forces respond to an air raid with artillery attacks on the positions of the Syrian army.
In turn, Moscow denies the participation of its aircraft in the raid and accuses Ankara that its military is among the terrorists.
Turkish Minister of Defense Hulusi Akar arrived at the command headquarters in Hatay province on the border with Syria. The head of the Turkish military department is accompanied by the commanders of the Air Force and Ground Forces. According to Anadolu, Turkey’s military leadership is preparing an offensive against the Syrian army’s positions in Idlib.
US Permanent Representative to NATO Kay Bailey Hutchison, in turn, expressed the hope that Erdogan will understand who is Ankara’s reliable partner. "I hope President Erdogan sees that we have been an ally of Turkey.
Turkish authorities see what Russia is and how Russians act," added the US Permanent Representative. -02D-
