Armenian Foreign Ministry: Yerevan to Block Azerbaijan's Entry into CSTO
Yerevan / 28.08.18 / Turan: In case of consideration of the issue of Azerbaijan's membership in the CSTO and the EAEC, Armenia will use its veto. On August 28, press secretary of the Armenian Foreign Ministry Anna Naghdalyan told journalists in Yerevan. Thus, she commented on the possible participation of Azerbaijan in the CSTO and the EAEC.
"In analytic circles, indeed, there are such discussions, but they are based on assumptions. The official position of the Armenian Foreign Ministry is as follows: in case of consideration of the issue of Azerbaijan's membership in the CSTO or the EAEC, Armenia will use its veto," Naghdalyan said.
According to her, decisions in the CSTO and the EAEC are taken by consensus. "We have stated our position on this issue, and this is an unambiguous position. The position of Armenia was clearly announced by Armenian Foreign Minister Mnatsakanyan," she said.
Earlier, the head of one of the parliamentary commissions of the Milli Majlis of Azerbaijan and chairman of the parliamentary friendship group with Russia, Ali Huseynli, made a statement that it is beneficial for Azerbaijan to participate in the CSTO, at least as an observer. -02D-
