Leader of REAL to Hold First Press Conference after Liberation

Baku / 28.08.18 / Turan: On September 4, the leader of the REAL party Ilgar Mammadov will hold his first press conference after more than 5 years in prison.

As Mammadov wrote in his micro blog on Twitter, "My medical check-up is complete. Results are just perfect. Now we can schedule the press conference which, as promised, will turn the imprisonment page and let all of us look ahead. We will meet with journalists at noon on 04/09/18. Info about place will be provided separately."

It should be reminded that Mammadov was sentenced to 7 years of imprisonment on charges of organizing mass riots in the city of Ismayilli in January 2013.

However, the court did not prove his guilt, and the international community recognized him as a political prisoner. Despite two decisions of the European Court of Human Rights, the country's authorities refused to release him.

On August 13, 2018, the Court of Appeal of the city of Sheki released Mammadov on parole with a two-year probationary period. -16D-
