Azerbaijan and France Sign Contracts worth $ 2 Billion
Baku / 21.07.18 / Turan: During the visit of President Ilham Aliyev to France on July 20, a number of documents on economic cooperation were signed.
In particular, an appendix to the agreement on rendering technical assistance to JSC Azersu by the SUEZ Group was signed, as well as an agreement on water supply management in the city of Sumgayit.
In addition, the Framework Agreement was signed between Azerkosmos OJSC and the National Center for Space Studies of France on cooperation in the space sphere.
A Memorandum of Understanding on industrial cooperation in the field of civil aviation between AZAL CJSC and Thales was also signed.
AZAL also signed an agreement with the Modern Construction Group, Thales, to install a radar system at the Baku International Airport.
Thales also signed agreements on securing cyber security of AZAL and Azeraeronavigation.
A memorandum of intent was also signed between AZAL and Thales for the creation of a briefing system for flight crews.
During the talks between Presidents Aliyev and Macron, the successful development of bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and France in political, economic, energy, environmental, transport, security, culture and other fields was noted, and satisfaction was expressed with the functioning of the French Lyceum and the Azerbaijan-French University in Azerbaijan.
During the conversation, the sides exchanged views on the relations between Azerbaijan and the European Union.
It was stressed that the leading French companies are interested in further expansion of activities in Azerbaijan.
Aliyev noted that within the framework of this visit fruitful meetings were held with representatives of 11 French companies. These meetings open great prospects for economic cooperation. President Ilham Aliyev stressed that agreements worth more than $ 2 billion were signed between Azerbaijani and French companies.
Issues of cooperation in the oil and gas sector, transport, space industry, air transport, metro construction, and military-technical sphere were also discussed. -0--

By the decree of the President of Azerbaijan, Siyavush Kerimi has been relieved of his duties as rector of the National Conservatory. By another decree from the head of state, Khamila Dadashzade has been appointed as the new rector of the institution. Previously, she headed the Department of Music History and Theory at the Azerbaijan State University of Culture and Arts. Dadashzade is a member of the Union of Composers of Azerbaijan.
