Macron: France to Promote Settlement in Nagorno-Karabakh
Baku / 20.07.18 / Turan: France will continue to contribute to the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict in the interests of the peoples of the region. This, according to TASS, is said in the communique of the Elysee Palace distributed on Friday after the meeting of French President Emmanuel Macron with his Azerbaijani counterpart Ilham Aliyev in Paris.
"The Presidents of the two countries exchanged views on the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. France as the co-chair of the OSCE Minsk Group has a special responsibility for ensuring long-term peace in the region," the statement of the French President's administration says.
"The French President stressed that he will continue to work in search of a negotiated solution, which is the only option to end this conflict on a long-term basis and in the interests of all the peoples of the region," the communique stresses.
It also notes that Macron "welcomed the meeting of the Foreign Ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan in Brussels on July 11." "The French President will closely monitor the situation, and France, together with the Russian and American co-chairs, will take all initiatives to make progress in the settlement process," the Elysee Palace said in a statement. -0-
