Azerbaijan's second gold medal at the Olympic Games
Judoist Zelim Kotsoyev has brought Azerbaijan its second gold medal at the Olympic Games in Paris. He won the Games in the 100kg weight category, defeating Georgian representative Ilia Sulamanidze in the final.
President Ilham Aliyev and First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva congratulated Zelim Kotsoyev on winning the Olympic gold medal and wished him new successes in the future.
Earlier, on 29 July, another judoist Hidayat Heydarov (73 kg) brought Azerbaijan its first gold medal.
Another medal for Azerbaijan was secured by Cuban Alfonso Dominguez of Cuba, who made it to the semi-finals of the boxing competition. His opponent in the semi-finals will be Spaniard Emmanuel Reyes Pla. The fight will take place on 4 August.

The President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, has expressed condolences to the President of Germany, Frank-Walter Steinmeier, following the tragic incident in the city of Magdeburg. "We are deeply shocked by the news of the deaths and injuries resulting from the tragic incident that took place at the Christmas market in Magdeburg," the message reads.
