Baku rejects Yerevan's idea of creating international mechanism to resolve conflict
Baku/16.02.23/Turan: The Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry rejected Yerevan's request to create an international mechanism for negotiations between Baku and Karabakh. This proposal was announced on February 15 by the head of the Security Council of Armenia Armen Grigoryan.
The head of the press service of the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry, Ayhan Hajizade, criticized this idea, calling it manipulation.
"Armenia's initiative to create an international mechanism to protect the rights and security of Karabakh Armenians and its aspiration to include provisions on this in the draft bilateral peace agreement between Azerbaijan and Armenia is completely groundless. Such attempts will not yield any results," the Foreign Ministry representative said in a comment.
According to Hajizade, these attempts by Yerevan show that Armenia has not given up territorial claims to Azerbaijan, although according to the agreements in Prague and Sochi, the parties recognize each other's territorial integrity.
Karabakh is an integral part of Azerbaijan, and the rights and security of the population of Armenian origin will be ensured within the framework of the Constitution of Azerbaijan. The reintegration of Karabakh Armenians is an internal affair of Azerbaijan and the interference of Armenians in this process is unacceptable, he said. -02D-
