Baku/25.06.21/Turan: Yesterday the President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov received the head of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) Rovnag Abdullayev.
According to the press service of the head of Turkmenistan, during the meeting, held in a business atmosphere, it was emphasized that Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan have enormous economic, energy and transport and logistics potential, which opens up wide opportunities for productive interaction in strategically important areas.
The parties exchanged views on the prospects for partnership in the oil and gas industry and the implementation of joint projects, and discussed the issues related to the exploration, development and development of hydrocarbon resources of the Dostlug field in the Caspian Sea. The ongoing development of a relevant bilateral agreement was noted.
The “Dostlug” (Kapaz) field has been a cause of disagreement between Baku and Ashgabat for many years. In 2020, the parties agreed to share it in the ratio of 30% to Azerbaijan and 70% to Turkmenistan. The reserves of this field in the center of the Caspian Sea are estimated at 50 million tons of oil.-02D-
