Border Guards of Azerbaijan and Iran Discuss Situation at Border
Yesterday in the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic (NAR) at the checkpoint Poldesht - Shahtakhti there was a meeting of Azerbaijani and Iranian border guards.
During the meeting, the sides discussed issues related to the closure of the Iranian border crossing.
According to sources in Nakhchivan, the talks were held in a positive way and will continue on Saturday.
It is expected that the Iranian side in the next few days will open the border.
It should be noted that on November 7 the Iranians closed the border crossings in Julfa and Bilasuvar.
In response, the Azerbaijani side closed the border crossing point Poldesht - Shahtakhti.
The Iranian embassy said that the checkpoints in Bilasuvar and Julfa were closed in response to the closing of Poldesht - Shahtakhti by the Azerbaijani side.
On November 5, in the village of Damirchi of the Sharur district of Nakhchivan during construction, two persons in uniform from the Iranian side opened fire on a tractor on the Azerbaijani side. The driver was not injured.
The Azerbaijani side demanded an explanation and, not getting it, closed the border. -03D06 –
