Border Service of Azerbaijan and Iran agrees to strengthen cooperation
The issues of border security between Azerbaijan and Iran were discussed on March 9 in Baku at the meeting of the commanders of border forces of the two countries Elchin Guliyev and Gasim Rezai. According to the State Border Service of Azerbaijan, the sides discussed the issues of the activities of border crossings, cooperation against illegal activities in the Caspian Sea, the fight against illegal migration and smuggling, drug trafficking and weapons.
A willingness to share information and experience in these issues was expressed, as well as the expansion of cooperation in the light of the international transport corridor "North-South" and the construction of the railway Astara-Astara.
During the visit of the Iranian delegation, Gasim Rezai will familiarize with the divisions of the border troops and the activities of a number of military facilities, the report said.
