Botanic Garden to get new breath

Baku/05.05.22/Turan: On May 5 President Ilham Aliyev signed an order "On measures for improvement, reconstruction and construction in the territory of the Central Botanic Garden".

According to the document, the purpose is to enhance the state support for improvement, reconstruction and construction work and restore the modern aesthetic appearance of the Central Botanical Garden.

In accordance with the specified order, 25 million manats were allocated to the executive power of the city of Baku from the reserve fund of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, as set forth in the state budget for 2022, for the improvement, reconstruction and construction of the Central Botanic Garden.

Recall that the Botanic Garden was founded in 1936 on the initiative of the Institute of Botany under the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan (NASA). The garden was developed on 16 hectares of land. More than 2,000 species of trees, shrubs and flowering plants were placed in greenhouses and open spaces. Efforts were made to preserve the genepool of these species and introduce new ones.

Below-cited is a note from a tourist left on the website for travelers tripadvisor.ru:

In no way can this place be called a "garden." Deserted, long since un-metered alleys. Coniferous trees and rare shrubs of unknown origin on the lawns. The ground is dry, uncovered with grass. Not a single flower. An atmosphere of total decay and desolation! And they take money to get in! Shame on you!
We came with a friend, after reading on the map "Central Botanic Garden"! After half an hour we were walking back and thought: "What fools we are ...".
By the way, the signs are screwed to the trees!!! Have you ever seen that anywhere?--0-
