Criminal case against 10 officials started
Baku/09.06.22/Turan: Ten officials of the State Property Service for Property and Municipal Bodies have been brought to criminal responsibility for illegal actions during land privatization in several cities and regions of Azerbaijan. This is reported by the press service of the General Prosecutor's Office.
In particular, head of Shirvan city department of the state service Nazim Safarov, head of Ujar department Amil Aslanov, chairman of Gazakh region's Dash Salahli village municipality Asif Yusifov, head of Sheki region's Gokhmug municipality Etibar Eyvazov, deputy head of socio-economic development analysis and forecasting department of the Kurdamir region executive power Ruslan Aliyev, etc. are suspected of committing criminal acts.
The investigation found that the above mentioned persons by conspiracy with head of the department of organization and geodesy of the state property management department Ildirim Mammadov received bribes for giving a positive opinion on transfer of ownership, use and lease of land plots owned by the municipality during the period of 2020-2022.
Total of 10 persons were brought to responsibility, in respect of whom various preventive measures in the form of arrest, house arrest, etc. were taken.
They were charged under Article 308.2 (abuse of power, resulting in serious consequences), 311.3.1, 311.3.2, 311.3.3 (repeated large scale bribes by a group of persons) and 312.1 (bribery) and other articles of the Criminal Code.
At present, investigative actions are underway to identify and prosecute other officials who committed unlawful acts.-06B-

Negotiations at the 29th session of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) in Baku have been extended until November 24, a source in the UNFCCC Secretariat told the Turan news agency. According to the source, participants aim to finalize and sign the concluding documents by that date.

According to the Turkish newspaper Sabah, officials from the Istanbul Prosecutor's Office's Anti-Smuggling Unit have detained an Azerbaijani citizen with a large shipment of gold. The detention took place near the Vadi İstanbul shopping center in the Sarıyer district, where a taxi was stopped. During the search, 70 kg of gold was found. The Azerbaijani citizen in the vehicle claimed ownership of the cargo and also stated that he was a diplomat. The investigation by the prosecutor's office is ongoing, reports Sabah newspaper. The media outlet does not disclose the name of the "diplomat," only his initials – M.G.Ş. The Azerbaijani Ministry of Foreign Affairs has declined to comment on the situation.

On November 22, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan discussed negotiations with Azerbaijan regarding a peace treaty in an interview with Public TV. In particular, he emphasized that society should move away from certain stereotypes. “We are outraged when we hear the term ‘Western Azerbaijan.’ But we don’t think that when we say ‘Western Armenia,’ it also irritates anyone,” he stated.
