European Court Fines Azerbaijan for EUR 65,000
Baku / 04.05.18 / Turan: On May 3, the European Court of Human Rights announced a decision on 20 complaints from Azerbaijan, all of which are related to non-fulfillment of decisions of Azerbaijani courts. The complainants are both physical and legal persons. In their complaints, they note that their rights as reflected in Article 6 of the European Convention (the right to a fair trial) and Article 1 of Protocol No. 1 (property law) are violated.
The European Court satisfied all the complaints, recognizing the right of the complainants to a fair trial and the violation of their property rights.
The decision says that when considering the complaints, the Azerbaijani government offered to pay compensation in return for withdrawing the complaints from the list and not taking a decision on them. However, the European Court rejected the proposal.
According to the decision, the government of Azerbaijan should pay the complainants a total of 65,072 euros.
The government should pay 13 complainants - Mayis Ramikhanov, Rafik Abdullayev, Sadig Sadygov, Ramiz Suleimanov, Natik Beybalayev, Guloglan Badirov, Abdulhamid Manafov, Firuza Jafarova, Mahammad Abbasov, Almaz Guliyeva, Arzukhan Alizadeh, Atrab Binnatova and Mahira Mammadova 3,600 euros to each, which is a total of 46,800 euros.
The government has to pay 1,200 euros for moral damage to Halal Company, 900 euros to Shaban Rzayev, 4,700 euros to Azer Gasymov, 2,100 euros to Galib Aliyev, 1,500 euros to Bahram Rustamov, and 1,800 euros to Nabi Hasanov.
The government has to pay 1,892 euros to Kamil Askerov for material damage, and 1,800 euros for moral damage.
In addition, the government has to pay 2,400 euros for legal expenses. -0-

One of the main topics of their negotiations was the normalization of relations between Baku and Yerevan.
