French Senate Recommends Government to Recognize Nagorno-Karabakh
Baku /25.11.20 / Turan: The French Senate adopted a resolution on the recognition of Nagorno-Karabakh on the evening of November 25. 305 deputies voted for, with 1 against, RIA Novosti reported.
As noted by the rapporteur for the resolution, Senator Bruno Retayo, said that what is happening in Nagorno-Karabakh also concerns the French, because Turkey is involved in it.
Erdogan pursues expansionist, neo-Ottoman and Islamist policies. This is a threat to world security, which runs counter to the interests of France, he said.
Note that the document condemns "the military aggression of Azerbaijan, carried out with the support of the Turkish authorities and foreign mercenaries, and also requires the immediate withdrawal of the Azerbaijani armed forces and their supporting formations from the territories occupied after the start of hostilities on September 27".
The French government is urged to provide large-scale support to the people of Karabakh, as well as initiate an international commission to investigate war crimes in Nagorno-Karabakh against the civilian population.
Finally, the document calls on the French government to make every effort to resume the negotiation process, "with securing the borders outlined in 1994," as well as to ensure the safety of the Armenian population and the right of displaced persons to return. -02B-
