Georgia and Azerbaijan to Unite Efforts in Fight against Drug Trafficking from Iran
Baku / 30.08.18 / Turan: Azerbaijan and Georgia intend to fight against drug trafficking from Iran together. This was stated on August 30 by the head of the Georgian Interior Ministry Georgy Gakharia at a meeting in Baku with his Azerbaijani counterpart Ramil Usubov.
According to Gakharia, the parties plan to jointly combat the traffic of heroin from Iran.
"This is a very serious challenge and I think that only cross-border cooperation is a way out. In another way, it will be quite difficult for individual states to effectively combat such a transit," the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs said, referring to Gakharia.
The meeting participants also discussed issues of strengthening border control, regional security and safety of tourist flows, the report says. -06D--
