Georgia Blocks Explosives for Armenia
Baku / 04.08.20 / Turan: Two weeks ago, the Georgian side blocked cargo with explosives that arrived from Russia for Armenia. As reported by the Armenian media, these are explosives used for industrial purposes, for the extraction of minerals, and road construction. Several vehicles loaded with Russian-made explosives stand in the no-man's land at the Verkhniy Lars border checkpoint between Russia and Georgia.
According to the same source, the producer of explosives is the Russian company Promsintez, which this year alone sent 40 trucks with explosives to Armenia.
The Georgian government does not respond to inquiries from Promsintez about the reasons for the delay, a representative of Promsintez said.
Note that in July an international scandal erupted over the supply of weapons from Serbia to Armenia through the territory of Georgia. Official Baku accused Belgrade and Tbilisi of unfriendly actions. Serbia acknowledged the arms shipments, while Georgia denied accusations that the arms passed through its territory. -02D-
