Georgia changed its mind to open railway communication with Russia through Abkhazia
Tbilisi/28.11.12/Turan-BS PRESS: The question on resumption of rail traffic through Abkhazia, including the restoration of the Abkhazian railway, whch does not work 1992, has been removed from the agenda, the journalists in Tbilisi were told by the State Minister of Georgia for Reintegration, Paat Zakareishvili.
Previously, he said that the Georgian authorities are ready to restore the railway link with Russia in the framework of "strategy for dis-isolation of Abkhazia."
"This topic was closed almost immediately because the Abkhazian side did not show interest in it. The question was closed almost immediately, as soon as this idea was sounded," said the State Minister.
Rail links between Georgia and Russia through Abkhazia was interrupted after the conflict of 1992-1993.
Azerbaijan opposed this idea, and regarded it as a desire to withdraw Armenia from the blockade. Yerevan welcomed the idea of opening. -02D-
