Head of Staff of President of Iran in Baku
Baku / 04.06.18 / Turan: The head of the staff of Iranian President Mahmud Vaesi arrived in Baku on June 3.
In the morning on Monday he was received by the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev.
Vaesi's meetings with Prime Minister Novruz Mammadov and Economy Minister Shaheen Mustafayev will also take place, the Iranian Embassy in Azerbaijan reported.
Before flying to Baku, Vaesi told the local press that the purpose of his two-day visit to Azerbaijan was negotiations on regional issues and bilateral relations.
"We live in a region where special conditions prevail. Recently, important elections were held in Iraq and Lebanon. In some countries of the region there are instabilities and unrest that require consultations between Iran and Azerbaijan as two countries striving for peace and stability in the region," he said.
He pointed to the close relationship between Tehran and Baku, saying that over the past 5 years, the Presidents of the two countries had met 12 times, and between high-level officials of Iran and Azerbaijan, there were about 100 meetings.
He said that during his visit to Baku he intends to monitor the implementation of the agreements reached between the two Presidents and to explore ways of removing any possible obstacles to their implementation.
Vaesi said that during the upcoming meeting with President Ilham Aliyev he will inform him about Iran's regional policy and position on the nuclear deal between Iran and the Big Six group. -06D-
