Humanitarian aid delivery to Karabakh awaiting approval of Russian peacekeepers
Bakuу/30.08.23/Turan: A shipment weighing 40 tons, primarily comprising flour, was transported by two Azerbaijan Red Crescent Society (ARCS) trucks to the Karabakh Economic Zone, pending authorization from Russian peacekeepers (RPK) to proceed.
According to Ceyhun Mirzayev, Secretary General of ARCS, the trucks arrived in the Aghdam district and were halted at a checkpoint en route to Askeran, along the Aghdam-Khankendi road. ARCS representatives notified an RPK officer of their intention to deliver humanitarian assistance to Khankendi for the local populace. The officer conveyed the need to seek approval from superiors, though the timeline for a response from RPK remains uncertain.
Within the separatist portion of Karabakh, there have been calls to sabotage Azerbaijani trucks upon their entry into Armenian-inhabited zones.
Social media discussions have centered around Azerbaijani truck license plates starting with the number 44. This number holds significance as the unofficial moniker for the second Karabakh war was the "forty-four days," representing the duration of the hostilities. It is worth noting that car registration numbers from Azerbaijan's Masalli region also begin with the number 44.
