Ilham Aliyev arrived in Tashkent to participate in ECO summit
Baku /09.11.23/Turan: On November 9, the Summit of the Economic Cooperation Organization opened in the capital of Uzbekistan. Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev arrived in Uzbekistan late the night before to participate in the work of this forum.
According to the forum program, the heads of the ECO states will consider issues of expanding trade, economic, transport, investment and humanitarian cooperation.
The heads of state will also hold bilateral meetings to discuss specific problems.
*The Economic Cooperation Organization(ECO) is a regional interstate economic structure established in 1985 by the countries of Central Asia and the Middle East and is the legal successor of the Organization for Regional Development Cooperation, established by Iran, Pakistan and Turkey in 1977.
Until the beginning of 1992, the cooperation within the ECO was essentially bilateral. Since 1992, ECO activities have significantly intensified due to the voluntary accession of 7 new states — Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Afghanistan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.
The economic components prevail in the relations of the ECO countries and the political orientation is less pronounced. -02D-
