Ilham Aliyev: Azerbaijan is the center of multiculturalism
Azerbaijan attaches great importance to the development of sport and the Olympic movement, said President Ilham Aliyev, speaking on Friday to the participants of the 43rd General Assembly of the European Olympic Committee in Baku. He noted that the progress made by the Azerbaijani athletes in international competitions, allow the popularization of the country. Noting conducting its political and democratic reforms, the President stressed that Azerbaijan is now recognized as one of the main centers of multiculturalism.
The Assembly includes delegation of the National Olympic Committees of Europe, heads of international sports organizations. Reports were made on the theme: "The Olympic Games", "Marketing & Communications", "Sport for All", "Olympic culture and heritage," "Medicine and doping", "Gender equality in sport." Also, information on the first European games and Operations Committee Report "Baku-2015"was provided.
The Assembly's agenda also included reports on the preparations for the Summer Olympics in 2016, 23rd Olympic Winter Games, and the European Youth Olympic Festival.-06D-
